Martinis for everyone! (3 versions to please all)

Martini is loved by many in our family. Here are the three ways to make this classic cocktail, as I am convinced, there is a way to make a martini for everyone.

Tools needed:

  • Mixing glass

  • Bar mixing spoon

  • Cocktail shaker

  • Cocktail picks

  • Strainer

  • Measuring cup/jigger

  • Ice scoop

DRY (GIN) MARTINI

This is a great choice for gin drinkers and those who prefer more florality and smooth texture in their cocktail. This is a classic version of the drink and my personal favorite.

Ingredients:

  • Gin of choice

  • Dry vermouth

  • Orange bitters (optional)

  • Lemon Twist

  • Ice

Recipe

Step 1:

Chill your glassware by filling your glass with ice cubes and letting it sit while you are mixing the cocktail or simply pop the glass in the freezer.

Step 2:

Add gin and dry vermouth in 5:1 ratio to a mixing glass, add a dash of orange bitters (optional), fill mixing glass with cubed ice and stir until the liquid is well chilled (avoid mixing for too long - the ice will start melting and diluting the drink, you just need to make the contents cold).

Step 3:

Strain the mix into a chilled martini glass (make sure to discard the ice from the glass before pouring the martini in it). Garnish with a lemon twist.

DIRTY (VODKA) MARTINI

This version of martini is loved by many for it's savory flavor - olive brine makes it slightly salty. The playful interaction between vodka's crispness and saltiness from the brine results in a very unique cocktail flavor.

Ingredients:

  • Vodka of choice

  • Dry vermouth

  • Olives in brine

  • Ice

Recipe

Step 1:

Chill your glassware by filling your glass with ice cubes and letting it sit while you are mixing the cocktail or simply pop the glass in the freezer.

Step 2:

Add vodka and dry vermouth in 5:1 ratio to a mixing glass, add a splash of olive brine, fill mixing glass with cubed ice and stir until the liquid is well chilled.

Step 3:

Strain the mix into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 2-3 olives on a cocktail pick.

LYCHEE MARTINI

This is an alternative version of martini for those who prefer the sweet and fruity beverages where the liquor flavor is milder. Lychee martini is my go-to for those who say they don't like martinis.

Ingredients:

  • Vodka of choice - 1 oz

  • Dry vermouth - 1/2 oz

  • Elderflower liquor - 1/4 oz

  • Lychee juice (lychee soft drink like Calpico would work too) - 1 oz

  • Lemon juice

  • Lime coin/lychee/maraschino cherries/dried cocktail orange slice

  • Ice

Recipe:

Step 1:

Chill your glassware by filling your glass with ice cubes and letting it sit while you are mixing the cocktail or simply pop the glass in the freezer.

Step 2:

Add all ingredients with a squeeze of lemon juice to a cocktail shaker and mix vigorously for about 20-30 sec.

Step 3:

Strain the mix into a chilled martini/cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime coin/lychee/maraschino cherries/dried cocktail orange slice.
